- As authorized distributors of Godrej Chemicals, we offer Godrej Erucic Acid - 90%, which is a monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid. It has the chemical formula CH3(CH2)7CH=CH(CH2)11COOH. It is prevalent in wallflower seed and other plants in the family Brassicaceae. Erucic acid is also known as cis-13-docosenoic acid and the trans isomer is known as brassidic acid.
- Erucic acid has many of the same uses as mineral oils, but it is more readily biodegradable than some. It has limited ability to polymerize and dry for use in oil paints. Like other fatty acids, it can be converted into surfactants or lubricants, and can be used as a precursor to biodiesel fuel.
- Its uses are as follows -

It is the most common saturated fatty acid found in animals, plants and microorganisms, because of which it has a wide range of uses in manufacturing and other applications.
- Palmitic acid is found naturally in palm oil and palm kernel oil, as well as in butter, cheese and milk.
- It is also known as Hexadecanoic Acid.
- Its chemical formula is CH3(CH2)14COOH.
- It is primarily used in the manufacture of substances, laboratory chemicals, personal care and cosmetics.
- Palmitic acid is used to produce soaps, cosmetics, and industrial mold release agents.
- Hydrogenation of palmitic acid yields cetyl alcohol, which is used to produce detergents and cosmetics.
- Because it is inexpensive and adds texture and "mouthfeel" to processed foods (convenience food), palmitic acid and its sodium salt find wide use in foodstuffs. Sodium palmitate is permitted as a natural additive in organic products.
